THIMUN - An experience of a lifetime
Model United Nations (MUN) has been a longstanding club here at Nesbru Videregående IB with participants from all grades. It gives students the opportunity to evolve in areas they are struggling with, such as public speaking. There are weekly sessions at the school along with local, domestic, and international conferences. These are amazing ways to step out of your comfort zone and meet new people from different places. Our MUN club is lucky enough to participate annually at the THIMUN conference in the Hague, which unfortunately has been virtual for the last few years due to COVID-19. Despite this, at the end of January of this year, 12 delegates from our MUN club could travel for an in-person THIMUN. We had participants from 1STI, 2IB, and even one 3IB who all represented the Paraguay delegation. For many, it was their first big conference, which was both exciting and nerve-wracking. However, every single one of them seized the moment and made the most out of their time there. Everyone delivered a speech in their respective committees, did and took points of information, and passed amendments. To say the least, this was an accomplished week filled with debate, sightseeing, and memories that will last a lifetime.
